Professional dancer Cheryl Burke recently shared details about her brief dance lesson with actor Charlie Sheen on her podcast Sex, Lies and Spray Tans. Burke revealed that she taught Sheen some dance moves as he was considering competing on Dancing with the Stars.
She was approached by the show's casting director to train a potential celebrity contestant, who turned out to be Sheen. Despite the show's demanding nature, Burke agreed to teach him and met Sheen at the Dancing with the Stars rehearsal studio.
During their session, Burke taught Sheen a few steps and had compassionate interactions with him, given his struggles with addiction. Sheen expressed concerns about the show's intensity, including the number of interviews and press commitments required.
Despite Burke's belief that Sheen could be a great candidate for the show, Sheen himself doubted his dancing abilities and expressed reluctance due to the physical demands of the competition.
Ultimately, Sheen declined the opportunity to join Dancing with the Stars, citing his lack of dancing skills and his aversion to physical exertion. He expressed gratitude for the offer but acknowledged that dancing was not his forte.
Reflecting on her experience with Sheen, Burke described him as sweet, kind, and humble, noting that he was appreciative of the lesson. However, she sensed that his decision to decline the show was inevitable.
In a previous interview, Sheen had mentioned being flattered by the offer to join DWTS but admitted that his lack of dancing prowess made it a challenging endeavor for him.
