Cheryl at the ‘centre of show bidding war’ after West End debut

Cheryl is at the centre of West End bidding war following her successful stage debut earlier this year, according to a new report.

It is claimed that the 39-year-old has been inundated with offers from several big stage shows and is considering her next move following her stint in 2:22 A Ghost Story opposite former EastEnders actor Jake Wood.

In the play, which is performing at London’s Lyric Theatre, Cheryl played Jenny, a wife who believes her new home is haunted and whose dismissive husband Sam is not humouring her fears.

The Sun has alleged that the Girls Aloud singer’s turn in the stage show “breathed new life into her career” and claimed that her star power meant most shows were close to sold out.

A source told the outlet: “Accepting the Ghost Story gig was always a gamble but it has breathed new life into Cheryl's career.

“She knows her time as a pop star has come to an end and she openly admits she no longer understands the music industry, but being back on stage was a real buzz for her.

“She loved every minute and wants to get another show under her belt. There are multiple offers on the table so it's about picking the one that is right for her.”

The Standard has contacted Cheryl’s rep for comment.

Jamie Winstone took over the role of Jenny following the singer’s stint last month alongside Sophia Bush, Ricky Champ and Clifford Samuel. The role has been previously played by Lily Allen and Laura Whitmore.

Earlier this year, Cheryl’s Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts attended the press night in February while Nadine Coyle showed her support for the singer in April.
