Chennai property owners who have received a revised tax demand notice with a higher amount than usual are not facing a citywide property tax hike, the Greater Chennai Corporation has said.
GCC Commissioner GS Sameeran said in an official statement on 12 August that property tax rates have not been increased in Greater Chennai Corporation. Revised demand notices, he said, were issued only to property owners and commercial establishments that had been paying tax based on under-assessment or wrong assessment, according to ANI.
