CHENNAI: In what clearly was the match of the tournament so far, Argentina's Nadia Podoroska came from behind to get the better of fourth seeded Tatjana Maria 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (6) to make the WTA Chennai Open quarterfinals at the SDAT Stadium here on Thursday.
Nadia will next be locking horns against Canadian Eugenie Bouchard in the last-8 stage of the tournament. The encounter, which lasted 2 hours and 46 minutes, saw the 25-year-old -- ranked 298th in the world -- overpower a player who is rated 214 places above her. Nadia didn't have the best of starts as the opening set was a one-way traffic.
