Mayor R. Priya will present her first budget of the Greater Chennai Corporation for the year 2022-2023 at the Council Hall in Ripon Buildings at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
It is after six years that an elected Mayor will be presenting the Corproation budget. The urban local bodies in Tamil Nadu did not have elected members since 2016. Special Officers, who were heading the civic bodies, presented the Corporation’s budget.
The budget for 2021-2022 had estimated revenue receipts to be ₹2,935.26 crore and the revenue expenditure to be ₹3,481.83 crore. Tax revenue accounted for roughly 40% of the total revenue receipts.
