CHENNAI: A Rs 789 crore deficit notwithstanding, the Greater Chennai Corporation’s first open budget in more than six years earmarked about Rs 1,800 crore to rebuild basic infrastructure such as storm water drains, roads, school and hospital buildings.
Compared to around Rs 847 crore for storm water projects in 2020-21 and Rs 1,000 crore in 2021-22, mayor R Priya’s maiden budget hiked the outlay by about 25% to Rs 1,235 crore.
