CHENNAI: About 65 % of the corporation’s Tondiarpet zone in North Chennai has no walking space, while 35% has poor natural surveillance, an audit report by an organisation working on women safety studies has found.
SAFETIPIN, the NGO which did the pilot study for Greater Chennai Corporation, found the zone was not women-friendly as it fared poorly in parameters such as adequate lighting, footpaths, openness, visibility, transport and security.
