Cheltenham results: Lossiemouth storms to victory in Champion Hurdle

  • Lossiemouth delivered an imperious performance to pick up a dominant victory in the Champion Hurdle on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival on Tuesday.
  • Lossiemouth has previously won the Mares’ Hurdle twice, and took victory this time around by six-and-a-half lengths ahead of Brighterdaysahead, while The New Lion came home in third.
  • In the first race of the festival, Old Park Star produced a brilliant finish to win the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.
  • There was a minor surprise in the Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices’ Chase as Kargese came home ahead of Kopek Des Bordes and Lulamba.
  • Owner JP McManus got the perfect birthday present as Saratoga won the McCoy Contractors Juvenile Handicap Hurdle.
