Galopin Des Champs and Willie Mullins are aiming for back-to-back Gold Cup wins as a historic Cheltenham Festival draws to a close today. Mullins earlier this week secured a remarkable 100th win at the meet and will now look to cap off another successful festival in yet more style.
His eight-year-old stayer is looking to become just the ninth dual-winner of the 100-year-old race and only the second of the modern era after Al Boum Photo - another Mullins horse - in 2019 and 2020, but faces stiff competition from the likes of Irish rivals Fastorslow and Gerri Colombe, along with last year’s runner-up Bravemansgame.
Elsewhere on the day, the Triumph Hurdle, County Handicap Hurdle and Albert Bartlett come before the feature race, with the Hunters’ Chase Mares’ Chase and the Martin Pipe finale wrapping up the biggest week in horse racing.
