When predicting the Deliveroo orders of each London borough, you’d be forgiven for falling back on stereotypes. Hackney with its bougie Torres crisps and small plates (though these don’t exactly travel well), Chelsea with its Waitrose crowd and Lambeth with its various Canary Wharf finance bro lunch options.
But Deliveroo is a window into our souls. It cuts through any stereotypes or misapprehensions. Your Deliveroo order history is as revealing as your Google searches. There’s no room for pretension here, only your deepest, dankest cravings.
And so the results might surprise you, but they don’t surprise me (a bonafide Deliveroo addict with an appropriate reverence for the all-seeing app).
Thought Kensington and Chelsea would be all sushi, Wholefoods and Ole & Steen? You’d be wrong. The royal borough’s Deliveroo order is actually the most representative of the entire London population, given that it’s the city's most popular order in general. That is, of course, Wingstop - specifically the eight piece boneless meal.
Sadly the data doesn’t go deep enough to tell us their flavour choices but I’d be willing to bet my life savings (which is approximately minus one hundred pounds due to aforementioned Deliveroo habit) that it’s the lemon pepper and Louisiana rub.
Meanwhile, Hackney swaps out its small plates dining - which is predictably more of an out-of-the-house eating situation - for an old favourite when it orders on Deliveroo. The humble Katsu carry is king of Hackney, though it’s not the Wagamamas offering, like you might expect.
It’s actually courtesy of Kakki Katsu, who have locations in Dalston, Camden and Stratford. So clearly the Dalston community is doing a lot of heavy lifting, given that that’s the only location within the borough of Hackney.

As for those Tower Hamlets bankers, your predictions are actually correct: their top order is almost definitely a work lunch situation, with the Build Your Own Bowl by Lebanese restaurant Yakob’s Kitchen leading the local orders. Protein heavy and perfect for the demanding environment of the trading floor.
Tower Hamlets’s neighbouring borough, Southwark, has an equally work appropriate top pick, with the “Seiz’a” caesar and blackened chicken salad from Atis dominating their order preferences. How healthy of them!
The same cannot be said for the people of Camden, who opt for The Convict burger from Bronson’s Burgers, which comprises two smashed beef patties, double American cheese, turkey bacon, Bronson's sauce, gherkins, onions and brioche bun. Who can blame them, though, really?
Also keen on the burgers is the borough of Westminster, which had Bleeker St burgers in their top pick, with the simple cheeseburger taking the cake.
Elsewhere, Lambeth opted for the roast duck and crispy pork belly with rice from Cantonese restaurant Three Uncles, Wandsworth want the chicken ruby from Dishoom, Hammersmith and Fulham are really into the chicken bowl from Chipotle and Greenwich loves the Chick ‘n’ Rice meal from Pepe’s Piri Piri.
One of the only other semi-healthy boroughs is Islington, who apparently adore building their own poke bowls with Honi Poke.
The funniest top order of all is perhaps courtesy of Lewisham, who simply picked a Gail’s pain au chocolat more than anything else on Deliveroo this year. Illuminating, really.
