Chelsea urged to sign Bundesliga superstar compared to Newcastle's Allan Saint-Maximin

Ex-Chelsea winger Florent Malouda has urged his former side to sign RB Leipzig playmaker Christopher Nkunku who he's likened to Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin. The Magpies winger has endured a tough season on Tyneside given injuries which have disrupted his campaign.

There's speculation linking Saint-Maximin with a move away from St. James' Park, but as Toon fans know all too well, the tricky winger is capable of turning a game on its head in the blink of an eye. Malouda claims the Magpies talismanic forward is the closest comparison to Nkunku currently in the top flight.

"Nkunku is a fully fledged France international, who left the PSG Academy and made the right decision to move to Germany," Malouda said. "I think this is the type of player Chelsea is actually missing, who are hungry and want to prove themselves.

"The timing was great for Chelsea to get him as there would have been so many clubs looking at him. He got a great assist this weekend actually and he will bring so much quality to the Premier League, if I had to compare him to anyone, it would be Allan Saint-Maximin.

"He always wants to try things in the final third, he wants to create or shoot for himself and he is not afraid to take risks. Now, it is more about the development of the player and how Chelsea can help him adapt to the Premier League.

"It’s a very good signing for Chelsea, but no Champions League, so they have to make sure he adapts quickly and gets proper game time."

Malouda was talking BoyleSports about Premier League betting.
