Chelsea urged to sign £49.5m Man United star to unlock Thomas Tuchel's dream midfield

Chelsea should sign Paul Pogba to partner N’Golo Kante in midfield, according to former England striker Darren Bent.

Pogba is in the final six months of his contract with Manchester United, and is set to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer.

The 28-year-old has often impressed playing alongside France teammate Kante, but struggled to replicate his international form in a United shirt.

Bent believes that if the two were to play alongside each other at Chelsea it may help the mercurial Pogba perform consistently at club level.

Bent told talkSPORT: “When Paul Pogba plays alongside Kante he looks like a completely different player, if they [Chelsea] were to sign him…wow.”

Pogba has endured a frustrating season thus far, he has seven assists to his name but four of them came during the 5-1 win over Leeds on the opening day of season and he is yet to score.

The Frenchman has largely flattered to deceive since returning to Old Trafford from Juventus in 2016, and has struggled to justify his £89 million transfer fee.

Meanwhile Kante has been an inspired signing for Chelsea and established himself as a starter under a plethora of different managers during his time at Stamford Bridge.

However, Kante and Pogba's partnership has certainly proved successful in the past.

Together they’ve won the World Cup and the Nations League for France, but it remains to be seen if the strength of the international collaborations would be enough to convince the Blues to sign the United star.
