Chelsea urged to ignore Victor Osimhen and make shock move for former striker by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes his former club Chelsea should look to bring Tammy Abraham back to Stamford Bridge.

It has been two transfer windows of huge spending in west London since Todd Boehly took over at Chelsea, with £600m splashed on new signings to try and get the club challenging at the top of English football again.

That has certainly not had an immediate impact on the pitch, with Graham Potter’s side sitting tenth in the Premier League and on a run of two wins in 14 matches.

Goals have been a major problem, with Kai Havertz regularly tasked with leading the line, though David Datro Fofana, one of the more low-key January arrivals, started in the defeat to Southampton. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has found himself out of the picture and a summer departure appears inevitable.

Hasselbaink has urged the Blues to focus on a new striker this summer, potentially turning their attention to a familiar face.

“They need a couple of out-and-out strikers that you know can make the difference,” Hasselbaink told Compare.bet.

“I think they should not overlook going back for Tammy Abraham. He knows the club, he’s played in the Premier League before. He’s gone to Italy, he’s matured, he’s played in a tough league with a big manager so I think Chelsea shouldn’t overlook him.”

Chelsea, along with many clubs across Europe, have been linked with Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, who has scored 20 goals for his club this season and ten in his last eight starts.

However, Hasselbaink has suggested the Nigerian could struggle to replicate that form should he make the move to England.

“A lot of teams are looking at him, he is a good striker, he scores goals, he plays for a big club and he knows the pressure,” Hasselbaink said.

“The only thing I find with him is he gets injured a lot, so his availability is not always there, and the intensity in Italy is not as high as in the Premier League so that would be a big concern for me.”
