Chelsea unlock £61m windfall as Thomas Tuchel's transfer war chest gets major pre-takeover boost

Thomas Tuchel could have £61million added to his summer transfer window allowance before the takeover of Chelsea is finalised.

Todd Boehly's consortium, who have agreed a £4.25billion deal to buy the west London club, are expected to 'push for A-list signings' to mark a new era at Stamford Bridge, according to the MailOnline. And, with the new ownership group eager to bolster the Blues armoury, The Telegraph indicate that, after player sales are taken into account, the Chelsea boss is set to have £200million at his disposal to strengthen his side.

But, thanks to a fresh share issue at the club, the Blues are set to generate an extra £61million, according to the Mirror. However, it's not clear as to how much of the aforementioned sum will be put aside for the upcoming transfer window.

Though, with Boehly and Tuchel keen to undergo a rebuild at the club amid an exodus of players, transfer chief Marina Granovskaia will hope much of the windfall can be used to fund Chelsea's quest to sign the likes of Declan Rice, Jules Kounde and Christopher Nkunku.

The West Ham midfielder topped the west London side's shortlist in the summer, but a move was delayed after a £100m evaluation was tipped 'steep', according to The Athletic. Though, now David Moyes has quoted £150m for Rice's services.

Kounde, who has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge recently, was pictured exchanging words with Trevoh Chalobah on Instagram. The interaction is the second clue that has been uncovered by Chelsea fans amid his seemingly impending arrival, with the 23-year-old pictured in London earlier this week.

According to Goal, the groundwork has been put in place to sign the France international once sanctions on Chelsea are lifted and Todd Boehly's consortium complete their takeover. And, following the takeover approval from the Premier League and UK Government this week, Boehly's consortium are set to complete the purchase of the west London club.

Having received the green light, Kounde is now said to be 'desperate' to swap the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan for Stamford Bridge, The Sun claim.

Chelsea remain interested in RB Leipzig attacker Nkunku ahead of the summer transfer window, football.london understands. The 24-year-old was scouted by the Blues during the 2021/22 season, and the club could look to make a move for him this summer.

He has two years remaining on his deal with the Bundesliga club, and the west Londoners are looking to take advantage of this. However, Leipzig and Nkunku are in talks over a new deal, it is understood.

So, speaking to football.london, the Chelsea boss detailed his desire to rebuild the club amid the exits of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. Tuchel said: "We are rebuilding, not improving the squad. We are rebuilding. This is always challenging, but we are up for the challenge.

"I don't know where we are from day one. What I can promise is that I will be here – if I can promise that – I will be here with full energy and positive energy no matter what. We will still work for Chelsea, and I refuse to think of negative scenarios. We will be competitive, on which level we will see."
