Chelsea transfer news and rumours: Blues pair attempt to persuade Kimpembe; Kounde terms agreed; Pavard fee

Chelsea are hunting down not one, not two but potentially three major defenders as they continue their transfer market business at a serious pace.

Jules Kounde is nearing a £51million deal to move from Sevilla while the Blues are fighting hard to secure Presnel Kimpembe from Paris Saint-Germain.

Already, Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly have arrived to reinforce Thomas Tuchel’s squad after a takeover-enforced slow start to the summer.

There could even be a £30m move for Benjamin Pavard after Bayern Munich named their price for the defender.

Here is your latest update of Chelsea news and rumours...

Presnel Kimpembe

N’Golo Kante and Thiago Silva have discussed what life is like at Chelsea with French defender Kimpembe as he considers a move to west London.

Standard Sport’s Nizaar Kinsella details how the 26-year-old’s decision is being influenced by his desire to remain at Paris Saint-Germain because they are his boyhood club.

Thomas Tuchel, Kimpembe’s former coach at PSG, has also held talks with the player as Chelsea look to force through a £50m deal.

Chelsea are in the market for a new wing-back ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta’s move to Barcelona and have once again been linked with Bayern Munich’s Pavard.

The Frenchman was first touted for a Stamford Bridge switch earlier this month and transfer journalist Ekrem Konur has claimed that Bayern are now ready to do a deal at £30m.

Jonathan Clauss of Lens has also been on Chelsea’s radar but is reportedly nearing a move to Marseille.

Jules Kounde

Chelsea have had personal terms with Sevilla’s Kounde agreed for the best part of a year, Standard Sport have confirmed.

However, the Blues remain locked in negotiations with the LaLiga side over a deal in the region of £51m.

Barcelona are also in the race but Sevilla would prefer the Blues complete the deal, as to not reinforce a domestic rival, with the player open to a move to either side.
