Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham stars of the future nominated for Premier League award

Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham are all represented on the shortlist for the Premier League 2 Player of the Year award.

The Under-21s season is coming to a close with the semi-finals for the league play-offs taking place in coming days, which will crown the 2023-24 champion after Spurs topped the table for the regular season.

The north Londoners lead the nominations for the award with Jamie Donley, Will Lankshear and Jude Sunsoop-Bell all on the list.

Lankshear, 19, has hit 20 goals this season including the extra-time winner in Tottenham’s quarter-final against Aston Villa while attacking midfielder Donley’s six goals and 13 assists also make him among the favourites for the award.

West Ham finished second in the table before a quarter-final exit to Sunderland on penalties and they have George Earthy, who recently scored his maiden first-team goal, and Callum Marshall on the shortlist.

Chelsea contender Leo Castledine is another to have enjoyed first-team involvement this season with the nominations completed by Reading U21 captain Michael Stickland and Nottingham Forest defender Zach Abbott.

Spurs and Chelsea face off in the first semi-final on Sunday before Reading meet Sunderland on Monday evening.
