Chelsea have been told why they should sign the more 'complete' Yannick Carrasco instead of Thomas Tuchel favourite Ousmane Dembele.
The Blues were touted for a while to sign a temporary Ben Chilwell replacement this month with Tuchel wanting sufficient back-up for Marcos Alonso but the Emerson Palmieri loan recall struggles have prevented that, football.london understands.
Instead, Kenedy and Lewis Hall will now be battling it out to be the second choice option that will feature when the Spaniard needs a rest over the forthcoming weeks and months.
Another position that could have been strengthened this month was the attack, with Tuchel disappointed with the blunt nature of Chelsea's forward line, as demonstrated with his comments after the detrimental Man City loss.
Therefore, it was no surprise to see Ousmane Dembele's name pop up, especially considering his dramatic fall out in the last weeks with Barcelona.
Initially, PSG looked likely to secure a deadline day deal for the Les Bleus international but financial disagreements mean that the 24-year-old is set to see out his current Barca contract until the summer, when he becomes a free agent.
And it has been revealed that Chelsea is now the winger's preferred destination, according to Sky Sport Italia's Angelo Mangiante, ahead of the summer but at least one attacker would have to depart if this move was to come to fruition.
Reports have suggested that a deal could yet be done before the 11pm deadline, although it's unclear how tricky any move would be at this stage.
So the likely possibility is we wait until the summer for any move to materialise, especially with this current position bloated in the current squad roster.
But is Dembele the right man for Chelsea?
Well, if Diego Simeone's verdict is anything to go by, then fresh target Carrasco, who is known to have a good relationship with international teammate Eden Hazard, could be the more 'complete' option in comparison to the once £100million rated man.
The Belgian wide player, who is known to be a versatile option on the wing and at wing-back, has become a mainstay in Simeone's Atletico Madrid side since moving back from Chinese side Dalian Professional in the summer of 2020, so it's no coincidence to see all of Spurs, Newcastle and the Blues weighing up respective moves at the end of the season.
One of the standout performances that has prompted Chelsea's fresh interest, as per French outlet Footmercato, came in the 2020/21 draw with Barcelona where Simeone labelled the 28-year-old's performance 'complete' on this specific occasion.
The Argentine boss said at the time as per Football Espana: “Carrasco did a good job tonight. He has found it difficult since coming back, and he put in a huge effort here.
“He played a decisive role tonight. Against Bilbao he played well, but tonight was his most complete game.”
The question that will linger in the minds of the west London faithful- Dembele or Carrasco, who is the more suitable option?
