Chelsea told dream Graham Potter transfer is as good as Kevin De Bruyne amid Arsenal interest

Chelsea's midfield was always going to be an issue. It's been coming in the rear window for a while now, and finally, the underbalanced, neglected area is proving to be a cause for massive concern.

To sum up how poorly managed the midfield has been, letting N'Golo Kante and Jorginho both go for free might be good business in the grand scheme. That is essentially allowing two players purchased for a combined £80m to leave for nothing. They have had nine years of service to the club between them, 11 when this season ends, and they're both into their 30s which reduces value, but if the situation had been managed better, then there is at least £60m worth of resale value between them.

Whether that be a 50-50 split per player of £50m for Kante and £10m for Jorginho, it doesn't really matter, but allowing this to fester so evidently over the past 18 months has been incredibly damaging for the short, medium and long-term.
