Chelsea will be fined by the Football Association for their battling display against Newcastle.

The Blues fought back from two goals down to earn a share of the spoils at St James’ Park on Saturday.

But also picked up seven yellow cards, with six of the players being cautioned along with manager Enzo Maresca.

Football Association rules, any team that accumulates six or more cards in one match is subject to a £25,000 fine.

It is the second time Chelsea have picked six cards in a game. During a defeat to Manchester United earlier this season, five players were booked and Robert Sanchez was sent off.

Due to the repeat offence, Standard Sport understands that the fine will double to £50,000.

Arsenal earlier this month fell foul of the same rule for their hard-fought 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

Chelsea’s indiscipline has been called into question at multiple points this season, having already racked up four red cards.

Maresca has previously been handed a one-match touchline ban after being sent off during the win over Liverpool earlier this season for enjoying in with wild celebrations at the end.

He had earlier been shown a yellow card, which resulted in an £8,000 fine.
