Chelsea tell Trevoh Chalobah and Kepa Arrizabalaga to ignore interest and fight for places

Chelsea have told both Trevoh Chalobah and Kepa Arrizabalaga that they want them to stay and fight for their place next season.

Chalobah had attracted loan interest from a variety of clubs including AC Milan, Inter Milan, Roma and RB Leipzig - with Tottenham monitoring the situation over a possible permanent deal opportunity.

However, in a meeting with the new owners, the 23-year-old agreed that he was happy to stay and fight for his place and reassured of his future despite the imminent £70million plus add-ons signing of Leicester’s Wesley Fofana.

The Blues see Chalobah taking a role in both the short and long-term as part of ambitious plans by the Boehly-Clearlake ownership group.

Similarly, Kepa has been told that his side want him to stay despite significant loan interest from Napoli this summer.

The Italian side are still chasing a goalkeeper and could be left disappointed that the Spain international is set to stay in west London.

Kepa is firmly Chelsea’s number two option and will continue to try and resolve the situation to beat Edouard Mendy to his starting spot.

The likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ethan Ampadu, Ross Barkley, Michy Batshuayi, Baba Rahman, Billy Gilmour and Kenedy could still all leave.

Hudson-Odoi is in advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a season-long loan but his exit has been stalled as Chelsea attempt to secure both Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Anthony Gordon.

The expectation remains that Chelsea complete both deals ahead of the transfer deadline on September 1.
