A Swiss-American consortium led by billionaires Hansjorg Wyss and Todd Boehly have submitted an offer to buy Chelsea from Roman Abramovich.
The Russian billionaire officially put the club up for sale last week and will be looking to move the club on sooner rather than later as the threat of sanctions from the UK government continue to hang over him following Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
Abramovich has vehemently denied having any links, past or present, with the Russian president and said he has nothing to deserve sanctioning but he is pushing ahead with his decision to sell the club he has owned for nearly 19 years.
A deadline has been set for next Tuesday for any interested parties to submit their offers for the club and both Wyss and Boehly have seemingly got theirs in early, as first reported by Swiss newspaper Blick.
An exact figure for the bid has not been reported but the group remain optimistic amid reported competition from parties in Saudi Arabia, United States and Turkey.
Roman Abramovich is looking for an asking price of about £3billion for the club but there is a growing belief that, given the circumstances surrounding his decision to sell, any offer accepted will be below that amount.
Up to 10 different parties have registered an interest in buying the reigning European champions although there is no guarantee that offers will be placed.
As well as Wyss and Boehly's bid, Turkish billionaire Murshin Bayrak has claimed that he too has submitted an offer, even going as far to say he has a "90% chance" of completing a deal. That appears to be an exaggeration considering the number of groups with interest.
