TalkSPORT pundit and former Rangers manager Ally McCoist believes Conor Gallagher would be the perfect signing for Newcastle United. The Magpies have been linked with a move for the Chelsea midfielder since the summer, but recent reports say Eddie Howe's side are keen on Gallagher, Hakim Ziyech and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Graham Potter's side are in need to trim the first-team squad after bolstering their options again in January. The arrival of highly coveted Mykhailo Mudryk has taken Todd Boehly's Blues' spending above £400million.
Much has been said, and a lot of it false, about Newcastle spending to get into the top-four. But their efforts, in comparison to the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea in recent windows are still a gulf apart.

The Magpies have been shrewd in the transfer market and have yet to part with any cash for new additions in this window - if you exclude the deal for Garang Kuol that was agreed last year.
McCoist told talkSPORT: "Conor Gallagher is the kind of player I think Newcastle would be going for, young, hungry. I think that would make a signing.
"The way he plays the game, as I said earlier, Newcastle fans would take to him. He's all energy, he's high energy, great effort, perfect."
