Nottingham Forest 'close' to completing first January transfer

Nottingham Forest winger Josh Bowler is reportedly 'close to re-signing' for Blackpool on loan, with his spell at Olympiacos set to be cut short.

The 23-year-old will return to a familiar place in Blackpool, where he spent the 2021/22 season before catching the eye and signing for the Reds. Bowler spent the last few months on loan at Olympiacos, but found game time hard to come by.

After just seven appearances in all competitions for the Greek side, he is set to return to the Championship. In 52 appearances for the Seasiders, the winger contributed to 13 goals.

What Nottingham Forest 'gave' Chelsea before Steve Cooper intervention

Nottingham Forest captain Ryan Yates revealed Steve Cooper's half-time talk helped the side rescue a vital point against Chelsea in the Premier League.

Graham Potter's side scored the opening goal through Raheem Sterling, which proved to be the difference between the teams at the break. An improved Reds then caused problems in the second half, and were rewarded with an equaliser.

'Five-a-sides' - Graeme Souness tears into Chelsea after Nottingham Forest draw

Graeme Souness believes Nottingham Forest could have 'easily' beaten Chelsea at the City Ground.

The two teams played out a 1-1 draw with Raheem Sterling scoring the opening goal. The Reds, who fought to come away with more from the game, were rewarded after being aggressive in the second-half.

Although Serge Aurier rescued a vital point for Steve Cooper's side, Souness believes the Reds' willingness could have seen them claim all three points against a Chelsea side that were not 'too threatening.'

Nottingham Forest release statement following draw with Chelsea

Nottingham Forest have promised to investigate reports relating to chants that were directed at Chelsea supporters following Sunday evening's game.

The Reds secured a famous point over Graham Potter's side at the City Ground after going behind early to a Raheem Sterling volley. They got a foothold in the game after the interval though, culminating in Serge Aurier's equaliser just after the hour mark.

After the game Forest released a statement, which read: "The Club are aware of reports concerning chants aimed at Chelsea supporters from a minority of fans this evening and do not condone any type of discriminatory or offensive behaviour. The matter will be fully investigated."

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper delivers verdict on 1-1 draw with Chelsea

Head coach Steve Cooper was left with “mixed feelings” after Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea, thinking his team could have taken all three points.

A much better second half from the hosts saw them level shortly after the hour mark, through Serge Aurier. And a draw was the least they deserved by the end.

The Blues had taken the lead in strange circumstances with 16 minutes gone, when Willy Boly had inadvertently deflected a cross on to the bar, which then bounced into the path of Raheem Sterling. Having been doing well up until that point, it was a kick in the gut for the Reds, but they really upped the intensity after the break.

Nottingham Forest dealt another injury blow as Jesse Lingard update provided

Nottingham Forest have been dealt another injury blow with the news Jesse Lingard faces a spell on the sidelines.

The 30-year-old was forced off in the second half of Tuesday night’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester United, having been wearing heavy strapping on his right thigh. Head coach Steve Cooper said afterwards he hoped it was “fatigue” in Lingard’s hamstring, but the attacker is now expected to be out of action for a month.

The Reds have already been hit hard by injuries - something which will affect their plans for the January transfer window. Omar Richards (hairline fracture of the leg), Giulian Biancone (ACL), Moussa Niakhate and Cheikhou Kouyate (both hamstring) are long-term absentees, while Morgan Gibbs-White made his comeback from a calf problem in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
