Chelsea set for seven-figure windfall if Newcastle complete £23m summer transfer

Chelsea could be hugely benefited by Southampton star Tino Livramento completing a summer transfer with Newcastle in talks to sign the defender. Livramento has been plagued by injuries in the last two seasons, typified by a severe ACL injury suffered in April 2022 which resulted in him playing just 26 minutes of Premier League football for the Saints in the 2022/23 campaign.

Livramento is a product of the extremely successful Cobham academy despite never featuring for the Chelsea first team, the Blues pocketed £5m for his services in 2021.

During his first campaign at a senior level, Livramento impressed on the south coast as he made 28 league appearances from right-back with one goal and two assists attributed to his name.

Relegation to the Champions for Southampton is expected to result in numerous key stars departing the club. Captain James Ward-Prowse is expected to be one of many to depart and he could be followed out of the door by Livramento.

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle are in advanced talks with Southampton to sign the 20-year-old this summer. Although Livramento was last on the books in 2021, Chelsea could profit from his sale with the Athletic reporting if the Magpies' £23m offer is accepted, the Blues will pocketed £8m and the Saints will receive the remaining £15m.

This extra added windfall will be of great help to Mauricio Pochettino as he looks to make some marquee additions, with Brighton's Moises Caicedo at the top of the list. Up to £200m could be pocketed from six sales that have either already been confirmed or are close to being finalised.

N'Golo Kante has departed on a free transfer while moves for Mateo Kovacic and Kalidou Koulibaly have been announced with Edouard Mendy's exit being confirmed on Wednesday.

Kai Havertz's £65m move to Arsenal is expected to be announced this week, while a meeting to discuss Mason Mount's move to Manchester United is scheduled for the coming days.
