AC Milan are tracking Christian Pulisic after entering advanced talks with Chelsea to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek for £17million.
The Blues are ready to accept an initial £14m offer for the academy graduate with a further £3m available in performance-related add-ons.
Loftus-Cheek, 27, has also agreed a contract and wants to move to Italy after being made surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
Milan are keen to sign Loftus-Cheek as a replacement for Italy international Sandro Tonali, who will soon join Newcastle for £65m.
Pulisic, 24, is among the attackers of interest to Milan who want to strengthen other areas of their squad with the Tonali windfall. He could join his former Chelsea teammates Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori at the San Siro but his £25m price tag has put clubs off.
The United States winger is frustrated in west London and is desperate to leave after playing a bit-part role for the last two seasons.
Pulisic also has just one year left on his contract which could see Chelsea drop their demands as the window goes on.
The sale of Loftus-Cheek, meanwhile, could take Chelsea's income from player trading to over £150m. Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy are close to leaving after Kalidou Koulibaly joined Al-Hilal for £17m on Sunday.
