Chelsea forward Kai Havertz has been slammed for "not doing anything" to help arrest his side’s alarming slide down the table. Since the resumption from the Qatar World Cup, Graham Potter’s outfit has been in wretched form, winning just twice and scoring six goals in their 12 outings.
During that time, Havertz has started all but one of Chelsea’s matches, contributing just two goals in the process. And pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has been far from impressed with Havertz’s efforts, placing much of the blame for the side’s poor form at the door of the Germany international.
Speaking on talkSPORT, former Aston Villa captain Agbonlahor accused the 23-year-old of “seeing off” previous bosses Thomas Tuchel and Frank Lampard, claiming the big-money signing has done nothing to warrant a starting berth. "Look at Havertz. I mean, he saw two managers off. He's not doing anything,” Agbonlahor said.

"He's not a No 9, he's not a No 10. He's not holding the ball up, he's not scoring goals."
Signed for around £72million in September 2020, Havertz’s finest moment came in the Champions League final the following spring, where he scored the winning goal against Manchester City. However, his career has since stagnated under three different management regimes.
The German has just six goals to his name in 32 appearances this season, while has only racked up one assist. With goalscoring proving a real issue for Chelsea this campaign - only six sides have scored fewer in the top flight - he has failed to fill the void and hit the heights that many expected.
Havertz wasn’t alone in being on the receiving end of the former striker’s wrath, as he later tore into the attitude of many of his teammates. "The big worry for me when I watch Chelsea is some of the body language of some of the players," he added.
"Even Enzo Fernandez, he's been outstanding since he signed for Chelsea, but even he sort of looked a bit fed up with his team-mates and the lack of connection between them. For me, these players look like they have a lack of confidence, lack of chemistry between them.
"[Ruben] Loftus-Cheek hasn't performed for ages for Chelsea. Some of these players need to get their finger out and start putting in performances and not just blaming the manager for everything."
While pressure continues to mount on Potter to turn the tide at Stamford Bridge, Agbonlahor was slightly more forgiving towards the Chelsea manager. “I think he [Graham Potter] is under pressure, but we do not know what the owner wants,” he continued.
“Give him until the end of the season, he gets a good pre-season, and gets rid of the deadwood, the players not good enough, then he can work with the players in pre-season.
“Then after ten games in the season, if Chelsea are not up there fighting for the title, then you get rid of him. These players have a lack of confidence and chemistry between them.”
