Chelsea's interest in Robert Lewandowski 'confirmed' as Premier League duo linked

Chelsea fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that the club are able to put together a huge summer in terms of incoming transfers as Thomas Tuchel will look to continue to build his squad in the hopes to be able to compete with Man City and Liverpool next season.

The Blues will almost certainly finish in the top four despite a colossal wobble this past month, with Arsenal potentially taking third place should results not go Chelsea's way. Coupled with Tottenham and Man United's inability to capitalise on rare Chelsea slips, Tuchel's side should secure a UEFA Champions League spot.

With new centre-backs, a midfielder and a striker on the radar for the soon to be newly formed Blues board, which could contain Marina Granovskaia still, a number names are hot on the agenda of the club and football.london takes a look at latest rumours:

Robert Lewandowski interest

The Guardian have reported that Chelsea have genuine interest in Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker has asked to leave the club, with him wanting a move to Barcelona.

However, Chelsea do have interest in him. Reporter Jacob Steinberg, said: "A player Tuchel loves. A long shot at the moment, Lewa wants Barca and Chelsea need to work out what to do with [Romelu] Lukaku, but it’s not impossible."

Lewandowski is Europe's top scorer this season, with a whopping 48 goals in all competitions.

Chelsea can sign Maxwel Cornet for £17.5 million

Chelsea could have the chance to sign a player who dreams of emulating club legend Didier Drogba in the summer. Maxwel Cornet has frequently been one of Burnley's brightest sparks this season but will be allowed to leave on a cut-price deal if Mike Jackson's side are relegated this weekend.

It has been a solid debut campaign in England for the 25-year-old, who has scored eight goals in 24 Premier League appearances. A report from The Athletic on Monday revealed that although Burnley may be playing in the Championship next season, that may not be the case for Cornet.

According to the report, a £17.5million release clause will become active in the Ivory Coast international's contract should they drop out of the top-flight. It would give a number of clubs a cut-price option in the summer and hand Thomas Tuchel the chance to sign a player who has dreamed of emulating his compatriot Drogba.

Chelsea's bid for Raphinha revealed

The Brazilian played the full 90 minutes as Jesse Marsch's side played their final home game of the season on Sunday as they look to stave off relegation. The winger was seen waving to the crowd and sitting alone by the goalposts after full-time in what could be interpreted as a farewell to the Yorkshire giants.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and director of football Marina Granovskaia, had been pushing hard for Raphinha's signature but external factors allowed Barcelona to take a lead.

"English clubs like Newcastle have explored the Raphinha idea in recent months but they know that the player’s priority is now Barcelona," Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column. "Chelsea had been pushing for Raphinha as summer target since January, but sanctions have frozen negotiations and Barca are now leading the race."
