Chelsea rival Man Utd for Ivan Toney transfer despite Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang move

Chelsea and Everton have joined Manchester United in weighing up moves for Ivan Toney.

The Brentford striker features on prospective target lists at all three clubs, and the Bees are bracing themselves for bids before the transfer window closes. Chelsea ’s No.1 target for the centre-forward role is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

However, they could switch their sights to Toney if there are any hitches with that deal and Blues boss Thomas Tuchel could even push for two central strikers after losing Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner. United have been looking at Toney as an option to fill the striker gap they already have.

And if Cristiano Ronaldo does leave then they could end up trying to land two-line leaders as well. United have been keeping tabs on Toney all summer as revealed by Mirror Football last month.

Erik ten Hag is in for a busy end to the transfer window with Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro close to being announced after agreeing an initial £60million fee. The Frenkie De Jong saga could yet go their way as well, with Cody Gakpo another potential in-coming.

Ajax star Antony - who has gone on strike to secure a move to Manchester - refused to publically commit himself to the Dutch club and is likely to be the Red Devils' fifth summer recruit.

The Brazilian international was asked if he could give fans of the Dutch club any guarantees that he will still be in Amsterdam when the transfer window closes at the end of the month. He answered: “No, to be perfectly honest, I can't.

“What I can say is that I want to come to the right decision with my family, business partners and Ajax, which is good for everyone. “In the end, God determines my future. I am very happy at Ajax, I have a contract until the summer of 2025 and I will give everything for this beautiful club for every second.

“I wear the shirt with pride and from day one I feel at home. If we all decide that I will stay here, then I know that this is the best thing for me and the club. It’s not like I have to leave. Now I am focusing on playing football and have put all other matters in the hands of my agents and my brother. They will advise me on what is best.”
