Chelsea have reached a full agreement with Brighton to sign defender Marc Cucurella, football.london understands. The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City too, but the Blues have moved quickly to secure the left-back as their fourth signing of the summer window.
The 24-year-old is set to sign for over £50million, a figure the Seagulls set that the Citizens were unable to match. Chelsea have already agreed personal terms with Cucurella, meaning only a medical and the signing of the contract should remain before an official announcement.
The former Barcelona man is the second name to join the defence this summer, following the loss of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen as free agents. The new addition will join Kalidou Koulibaly in the backline, able to play as a full-back, wing-back and centre-back on the left.
