Chelsea are reportedly set to submit an offer for Lyon starlet Rayan Cherki as a possible replacement for Christian Pulisic.
The versatile forward enjoyed a successful season in Ligue 1 last term, recording 10 goal involvements in 21 league starts, making 39 appearances overall. The Blues look set to have an attacking spot to fill in their ranks as Pulisic closes in on a move to AC Milan for an £18.2million fee .
New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has been quick to start shaping his squad, bringing in a trio of signings and overseeing a total of 11 outgoings, before the club set off for their USA pre-season tour. Cherki has established himself as one of the star prospects in European football and could be the next player on their way to Stamford Bridge.

It has been reported by ESPN’s Julien Laurens that the Blues are ‘preparing’ an initial bid for the Lyon youngster. Chelsea are claimed to have watched Cherki during his games for France at the recent under-21s Euros, with the forward being touted as a direct replacement for Pulisic.
Lyon reportedly value the teenager, who is under contract until 2025, at €40million (£34million) but could be forced to sell for less, given growing financial issues at the club. Chelsea could face a battle for Cherki’s signature, though, after PSG saw an offer rejected in January.
Meanwhile, ESPN also claims that Montpellier striker Elye Wahi is on Chelsea’s transfer ‘shortlist’. The 20-year-old scored 19 goals in 33 league games last term and is reportedly being tracked by other Premier League sides, with Montpellier said to value the forward at €30million (£25.5million).
