Frank Lampard picked Chelsea’s youngest-ever side in the Premier League era but showed their naivety in a brutal 4-1 defeat away at Manchester United.
Mykhailo Mudryk, Kai Havertz and Conor Gallagher all missed big chances before Erik ten Hag’s side were ruthless in securing Champions League qualification.
Casemiro scored an early header, Anthony Martial added a tap-in just before half time and Bruno Fernandes won and scored a penalty.
Marcus Rashford netted the late fourth after he returned from illness and injury to replace Antony, who was taken off on a stretcher. Joao Felix added a late consolation.
Nizaar Kinsella was at Old Trafford watching the Blues try to put a gloss on a disappointing season...
Kepa Arrizabalaga - 5
Kepa didn’t feel particularly at fault for any of the goals but being beaten four times remains a bad look.
Cesar Azpilicueta - 5
The only player aged over 30 in Chelsea’s line-up, the captain made a well-timed goal-saving tackle in the 20th minute but played Martial onside for his goal after switching off.
Trevoh Chalobah - 5
The best performer in the backline through his competitive edge but was part of a poor tactical display.
Wesley Fofana - 2
Gave away a penalty in the 72nd minute for a foul on Bruno Fernandes and cost his side again in the 78th minute as his misplaced pass led to Rashford’s goal.

Lewis Hall - 6
Produced two wonderful crosses that should have led to goals for both Havertz and Mudryk, and neither Jadon Sancho nor Antony got much joy down his side.
Conor Gallagher - 4
Played very high up the pitch but was both wasteful and ended up leaving his team short defensively. Also gave away the ball in his own half which led to a Fernandes chance.
Enzo Fernandez - 5
Showed good control of the midfield early on but lost his head as the match wore on due to the scoreline.
Carney Chukwuemeka - 5
Chukwuemeka was a steady performer on his first start since January 15 without producing anything decisive. Perhaps worthy of more minutes.
Mykhailo Mudryk - 4
The £88.5million signing missed a simple side-foot finish early on and appeared drained of confidence. His display was full of mis-controls despite his obvious desire to work for the team. Improved a bit in the second half.
Noni Madueke - 4
Involved in creating a big chance for Gallagher in the first half but drifted in and out of the match, without taking enough risks.
Kai Havertz - 5
The Germany international was the most effective attacker but also missed a simple header. Lacks confidence in front of the goal, despite being the club’s top scorer this season.

Joao Felix - 5
The team declined after his introduction. Wasteful in attack until a fine consolation goal, having offered nothing defensively.
