Chelsea player ratings vs Liverpool: Mykhailo Mudryk enjoys lively cameo as Thiago Silva continues to shine

New Chelsea signing Mykhailo Mudryk caught the eye in a 35-minute debut, but was unable to inspire his team to a win over Liverpool at Anfield.

Kai Havertz had a goal ruled out for offside by VAR inside the opening three minutes, but that was the only real goalmouth action of note in a mid-table clash with lacked quality.

The draw will do neither of the struggling superclubs any good with Chelsea remaining tenth in the league and Liverpool rising above Brentford into eighth.

Nizaar Kinsella was at Anfield, here’s how he rated Graham Potter’s side...

Kepa Arrizabalaga - 6

The Spain international looked unconvincing coming for crosses, putting his side under pressure. He was effective in saving the three shots that he faced.

Marc Cucurella - 6

Recalled to the starting line-up for the first time in three matches and dealt well with Mohamed Salah’s threat. There were signs he could come through a period of bad form.

Benoit Badiashile - 7

Defended well once again in just his second appearance for Chelsea. He almost scored midway through the first half with a header from a set piece.

Thiago Silva - 9

Built impressively from the back, almost scored early on and produced a goal-saving header in a busy first half. He then made an outstanding block to stop a volley from Naby Keita with Kepa beaten. A near-perfect display.

Trevoh Chalobah - 6

The homegrown defender performed well in his uncomfortable right back role for the second match running. He came off injured toward the end of the match.

Jorginho - 6

A big ask for the midfielder alongside a youngster and then Gallagher, who likes to get forward, but kept the team’s shape well in his withdrawn role.

Conor Gallagher - 6

His movement was a constant threat in the no10 position, while his pressing helped pen in Liverpool when they played out from the back. A good performance but he couldn’t provide enough moments of quality in the final third.

Lewis Hall - 5

The 18-year-old gave the ball away in a good position in the 20th minute, leading to a poor Cody Gakpo shot. He looked nervous on his first start for Chelsea in his preferred midfield role.

Mason Mount - 4

A very quiet match for the 24-year-old who has watched his form decline in recent weeks. He came off for Chukwuemeka late in the match.

Hakim Ziyech - 8

Worked hard, produced excellent set-pieces but kept falling over on a slippy pitch. He appears to be fighting for his place when many believed he might leave the club.

Kai Havertz - 5

Unlucky to see a first-half goal ruled out through a strange but correct offside ruling, worked hard but he rarely threatened and was ultimately taken off.

Substitutes

Cesar Azpilicueta - N/A

Mykhailo Mudryk - 8

Enjoyed an eye-catching 35-minute cameo, helping his side regain control of the match. Perhaps should have scored one of the chances provided by Ziyech late on.

Carney Chukwuemeka - 5

The 19-year-old was too slow in taking a shooting chance provided by Mudryk in extra time.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang - N/A

Unused subs: Bettinelli, Azpilicueta, Humphreys, Koulibaly, Chukwuemeka, Loftus-Cheek, Mudryk, Aubameyang, D Fofana
