Chelsea player ratings vs Liverpool as N'Golo Kante and Fofana brilliant, Kai Havertz poor

Kepa Arrizabalaga – Never had too much to do in the first-half, and it was a similar situation in the second period. Claimed a couple of crosses well. 6.

Wesley Fofana – Once again played so well. He needs to be a staple in this Chelsea team when he's fit. An imperious performance from the returning Frenchman. 8.

Kalidou Koulibaly – Much better. Did well to deal with Liverpool's front three and looked better on the ball. 7.

Marc Cucurella – Did well against Diogo Jota. Won a fair few aerial duels and looked to get physical at every opportunity. 7 .

Reece James – Struggled to get into the game but did well defensively when called upon. 6.

N'Golo Kante – Played in a much more advanced role than perhaps we would have expected. His playmaking helped Chelsea to create some chances. You almost forget how much ground he covers. 8.

Enzo Fernandez – It was interesting to see how he'd do against a high-pressing team like Liverpool but the Argentine – like he has in every game so far since joining Chelsea – passed the test. 7.

Mateo Kovacic – Misses two absolutely golden chances. Played well apart from that. Crucially, he dribbled forward with the ball a lot to break the Liverpool press. 6.

Ben Chilwell – Struggled to get into the game as an attacking outlet. Did well against Jota to keep him quiet. 6.

Joao Felix – Looked bright, but there was a frustrating lack of end product, not for the first time, tonight. Showed some nice link-up play with Havertz, but not enough. 6 .

Kai Havertz – Too wasteful yet again. He has those performances, like the one against Borussia Dortmund in the second-leg, but he has too many of these where he does not look like he is going to score even if he played two lots of 90 minutes. 5.

Substitutes

Conor Gallagher – Came on for the last 21 or so minutes. Ran around a lot which was good against some tired Liverpool legs. 6.

Mykhailo Mudryk – Came on with about 13 minutes to play to try and hurt Liverpool and their tired legs with his blistering speed. Mudryk was on at left wing-back, though, and was unable to make too much of an impact. 6.

Raheem Sterling – N/A.
