Chelsea are trying an old transfer trick and could unsettle one of their top four rivals as Todd Boehly continues an ambitious youth recruitment drive. The new owner has already set his stall on attracting some of the world's best talent to Cobham and that looks set to continue.
As well as signing Inter Milan starlet Cesare Casadei last summer Carney Chukwuemeka joined from Aston Villa too, with more than £50m spent on teenagers during the co-owner's first window. As well as bringing in a host of other talented players to the academy teams, Boehly is also looking to find readymade first-team players too.
Lewis Hall has already made his own breakthrough internally and could be followed shortly by several youth stars including Bashir Humphreys, Dion Rankine and Omari Hutchinson. The ex-Arsenal forward has made several matchday squads under Graham Potter and looks set to push for a first-team place when domestic football returns next week.
