Chelsea: Nicolas Jackson open to Aston Villa transfer as Alejandro Garnacho loan move nears completion

Aston Villa are interested in signing Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as they close in on a deal for Alejandro Garnacho.

Garnacho is understood to be close to completing a season-long loan move to Villa, with a conditional obligation for Unai Emery’s side to buy the Argentinian winger permanently next summer.

Villa, though, are also interested in Garnacho’s Chelsea team-mate Jackson as they look to bolster their attacking options following the British record departure of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea.

Standard Sport understands no club-to-club talks have taken place yet, but Emery is interested in reuniting with Jackson after the pair worked together at La Liga side Villarreal.

As things stand, Jackson, who spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, is set to join up with the rest of the Chelsea squad when they travel to New Zealand for their pre-season tour next week.

Xabi Alonso revealed he is keen to assess Jackson over pre-season after Bayern opted against triggering the £56million permanent purchase option in his loan agreement.

Villa and Chelsea are, however, on good terms after negotiating a deal for Rogers and Jackson is said to be open to a move to Villa Park in search of regular minutes.

Jackson has scored 30 goals in 81 appearances for Chelsea since moving to the club from Villarreal for £32m in 2023 but was deemed surplus to requirements last season after the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.

Joao Pedro is likely to continue as Chelsea’s first-choice option up front this season, after netting 20 goals in all competitions last term, and Jackson is assessing his options.
