Chelsea news: Wesley Fofana responds to explicit chant as Harry Kane urged to 'forget rivalry'

Your Chelsea morning digest on Sunday, March 12.

Fofana responds to explicit chant

Wesley Fofana has hilariously responded to an explicit video which captured a brutal chant sang by Leicester City fans. The 22-year-old swapped the midlands for west London in the summer for around £70million — and the home support at the King Power Stadium doesn't appear to have taken his exit very well.

In the video, Leicester fans were heard singing a new song about the Chelsea defender to the tune of 'Hey Baby' by DJ Ötzi. The song in question which has gone viral on Twitter goes: "Wesleyyyy, Wesley Fofanaaaa, ooh aah, I wanna' knooooooow why you're such a ****!"

Fofana saw the funny side of the song by quote retweeting post with two love-heart-eyed emojis. His tweet, which is essentially mocking the Leicester fan on social media has, as it stands, managed to garner nearly ten times as many likes.

Kane urged to join Chelsea

Former Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda has urged Harry Kane to 'forget rivalries' and spearhead a trophy charge under Graham Potter next season. The 29-year-old striker faces an increasingly uncertain future at Tottenham after entering the final 18 months of his contract.

Speaking to DAZN Bet, the Frenchman said: "Chelsea should definitely join the race for Harry Kane. Kane is a world-class player who knows the Premier League, and it is an era where Chelsea need a striker with his goalscoring record and the ambition to win trophies.

"If Kane ever leaves Tottenham, it will be because of the lack of trophies. Kane would be a great signing, but I’d be surprised if he left Tottenham for Chelsea because of the rivalry. It’s not like leaving Tottenham for Arsenal, but to leave Tottenham for Chelsea, I’d be surprised but anything is possible. He’s a great option for any club in the Premier League, and for Chelsea he’d be a great pick."

Potter makes major top-four admission

Potter has insisted his players must focus on one game at a time in the hope they can impact the Premier League top four. There is likely to be just one spot up for grabs and it will seemingly be contested between Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham.

Like Chelsea, Brighton, Brentford and Fulham will feel as though they can impact the European football race. Although there is still a significant gap to fourth-place, and winning the Champions League could be a more plausible route to playing in the competition next season.

Nonetheless, Potter was asked if there was still belief that a top-four finish was possible. He said: "I wouldn’t say it’s a lack of belief. I think it’s a realisation we are where we are and rather than think too far that way then zoom into the next one. If you win the next one, move to the next one and have the same approach.

"If you carry on that and things are good, then who knows what happens at the end of the season. At the moment we need to stick to the next game."
