Chelsea news: Todd Boehly to offer Juventus £26m as Graham Potter delivers Kai Havertz verdict

Your Chelsea morning digest on Wednesday, October 26.

£26m offer for Juventus player

Chelsea are working on a deal to bring in a new midfielder alongside offloading an underperforming and unhappy attacker, according to reports in Italy.

Hakim Ziyech hasn't had the desired effect under Graham Potter and isn't in the current plans after trying to make a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer.

According to Football Italia, the Moroccan's lawyer, Sebastien Ledure, has talked with Juventus about a possible January move, and Chelsea could get someone in return.

Chelsea ramp up director search

Todd Boehly is rapidly arranging a group of new directors and important senior figures at Chelsea with the aim of solidifying the club's recruitment structure.

With football.london understanding Christopher Vivell will be appointed as the new sporting director. The Athletic report that Monaco director Laurence Stewart is set to join him at Stamford Bridge, whilst it is also understood now that Joe Shields will come in from Southampton - he is currently head of recruitment at St Mary's.

Add Paul Winstanley to that list as football.london also understands that the Brighton recruitment head is set to come to Chelsea too.

Potter gives Havertz verdict

Chelsea secured their place in the knockout round of the Champions League following a 2-1 win over RB Salzburg on Tuesday night. Goals from Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz were enough to secure all three points for Graham Potter's side.

Speaking after the match, Potter praised Havertz for his performance. "His quality is there; he’s an incredibly talented player," the former Brighton boss said.

"He’s been nearly there and obviously, scoring a goal like that is bound to help. I wouldn’t be able to score a goal like that to be fair, I can only imagine! It’s a fantastic strike and an indication of the quality he has. So I’m really pleased for him.”
