Hazard windfall
Chelsea have been handed a cash boost after Eden Hazard won the Champions League with Real Madrid.
Los Blancos defeated the Reds 1-0 on Saturday night as they went on to secure a surprise result against England's domestic cup double-winning side. Jurgen Klopp watched in agony as Real Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois produced a Player of the Match performance to prevent Liverpool from breaking through in Paris.
Although Hazard didn't play in the final, reports suggest that the contract he signed when he moved from Stamford Bridge to Spain has a windfall clause within it. That means that the Blues have earned an additional £15million as a result of him winning the coveted trophy, which is a welcome boost for Todd Boehly's consortium as they enter their first transfer window as the Blues' new official owners.
