Atletico Madrid plot Marcos Alonso move
Chelsea are facing a significant summer rebuild in defence, with it looking likely that both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen will leave the club in the summer. They could yet lose another name, too, with Atletico Madrid interested in signing Marcos Alonso, according to a report from Marca.
Alonso has been an integral figure in Thomas Tuchel's side since January after Ben Chilwell was ruled out for the season with a ruptured cruciate ligament in December. But it appears a new left-back could now join the German's wishlist for the summer, one that is growing longer and longer.
Takeover process hits a snag
The process to buy Chelsea from Roman Abramovich appeared to be nearing a conclusion until concerns arose this week among the three remaining bidders for the club. As per MailOnline, the costs of renovating Stamford Bridge are a concern for all of Todd Boehly, Steve Pagliuca and Sir Martin Broughton, and bids could even be reduced to reflect the added cost that the project would require.
"Without moving the stadium, the sums don't work," a source close to the process told MailOnline. "They're private equity guys and want to make a profit in the long term. No matter how glamorous the trophies are, the sums don't work without moving the stadium if the deal is for £2.5bn."
Tuchel confirms Rudiger exit plans
Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Antonio Rudiger wants to leave Chelsea at the end of the season. Rudiger's contract with the Blues expires in the summer transfer window, and after months of speculation, the German has decided he wants to leave Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel told Sky Sports: "Toni, the media is on it. The situation is that he wants to leave the club. He informed me of this is in a private talk.
"We gave everything - me and the club - but we could not fight anymore because of the actions. Without the sanctions, we would at least be able to carry on fighting, but our hands are tied. We don't take it personally. It is his decision.
"He is a key figure and will stay that way until the end of the season. But it is disappointing. We will miss him a lot. He gives courage in the dressing room.
"The kind everyone is afraid of, but the kind to play 50-55 games at an outstanding level. He is a top defender in the last one and a half years for me. We then need to find another solution."Read the full story here.
