Chelsea have some huge decisions to make over the summer and cannot afford a misstep again if they are to return towards the summit of the Premier League. The side currently sit 12th after roughly £600million spent in the previous two transfer windows, showing the brutal reality of the division to the new owners.
There's still some hope that the side can return to winning ways, with a squad of young talent capable of becoming world-class. The key difference may be the person to guide them there, with talks currently ongoing over the next Chelsea manager as Mauricio Pochettino emerges as the favourite.
Sources have told football.london that there is still nothing to report regarding an imminent agreement between the Blues and Pochettino, though there have been a number of positive talks between the two parties and there is confidence that a deal can be reached. If the former Tottenham boss is to take the role, one of the key issues he will have to address is the lack of goal scoring.

The Blues have lacked a player able to put the ball into the back of the net with conviction, with the signing of Romelu Lukaku appearing to be a mistake after his subsequent loan exit to Inter Milan. There are a few options in the market that have been linked with a move to west London, most notably Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.
The former is a proven scorer in the Premier League and can act as a clinical box striker as well as a creative playmaker for the rest of the team. However, given he has one-year remaining on his contract and is reaching his peak, it may be best to avoid him, not to mention a potential tussle with Manchester United to land him.
Instead, Osimhen may be the better option, given he is younger and he is able to stretch a game by running behind the opposition as well as offering a presence in the area. He has 26 goal involvements in the league, two less than Kane, but with plenty of time to improve.
He has already discussed a potential switch to the Premier League, but when asked about it after Napoli's famous Scudetto win on Thursday night, he said: "Future? Now I want to enjoy this historic moment, this is not the time to think about my future."
With the cost of both players likely to be in the hundreds of millions, it's an outlay that each team cannot afford to make a mistake on. The Blues are more likely to challenge for the title later down the line and in Kane, they have a player that may be at a peak for a shorter time compared to Osimhen, who is yet to get there.
