Like the buses on Fulham High Street, the goals all came at once for Chelsea, as they lifted the gloom on an important night for Mauricio Pochettino.
The Blues scored twice inside 82 seconds to beat Fulham and record only their second Premier League win of the season.
Pochettino, his players and Chelsea's owners were under the spotlight, and a bad result would have added to the unease around the club.
But they dominated Fulham from kick-off, and as soon as Mykhailo Mudryk opened the scoring, that fear and anxiety disappeared.
Chelsea had gone more than 300 minutes without a League goal, but Armando Broja, back in the team after 10 months out with a serious knee injury, quickly added a second.
A convincing win was just what Pochettino needed and gave Chelsea fans a glimpse of what he is attempting to build.
Pochettino has stuck to his guns, playing Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill out of position, and the head coach was rewarded as his team looked more balanced with Mudryk and the impressive Cole Palmer either side of Fernandez and behind Broja. Mudryk starred and scored his first goal for the club before he was withdrawn at half-time with a quad injury.
Broja justified his inclusion with a decent display, while Palmer was a creative force and linked play well. Conor Gallagher deservedly won man of the match for a powerful midfield showing that perfectly complemented the attack.
Alongside Gallagher, Moises Caicedo and Fernandez excelled in their best performances together as they looked worth their combined £200million value for the first time.
Pochettino said: "It's about time, having patience, trusting these young talented players, building confidence. It's a big job, step by step. Sometimes people don't have the patience, but for us it's about having the patience. Even when we weren't winning, we were calm, stayed positive, had the belief."
Chelsea players threw their shirts into the away end after the game, in what felt a significant moment as they try to rebuild a connection with fans.
"They needed to feel the team and the team needed to feel them," said Pochettino, who said he was hopeful Mudryk would be fit enough to face Burnley on Saturday.
Chelsea will also assess Caicedo, after he went down in injury time with what Pochettino described as a "contusion".Fulham were undone by defensive lapses and Marco Silva will hope this defeat was merely a blip.
The Cottagers had 56 per cent possession and were the first team this season to have more of the ball than Chelsea, but individual errors cost them.
Issa Diop's poorly-timed jump allowed Mudryk to open the scoring, and captain Tim Ream then gave the ball away on the edge of his own area before the Broja goal.
Fulham did improve after the break, but the damage had been done.
"Disappointing result for us," said head coach Silva. "In certain moments performance-wise as well. They won some individual challenges that gave them a boost that they needed in that moment."
