Chelsea make new Wesley Fofana bid as Thomas Tuchel adds Marc Cucurella ahead of Everton clash

Your Chelsea transfer round-up on Saturday, August 6.

Marc Cucurella confirmed

Chelsea have announced their fifth signing of the summer with a £55m deal to bring in Brighton fullback Marc Cucurella.

The Spaniard was also registered in time to be included in Thomas Tuchel's matchday squad to face Everton and joins Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina in being Todd Boehly's first male signings at the club.

New Fofana bid

Todd Boehly has made Wesley Fofana his number one transfer target for the rest of the window after making a fresh bid for the French centre-back.

The Blues had an initial offer turned down, believed to be in the region of £50m plus add-ons, but returned with an improved bid worth £70m.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has continued to keep the stance that Fofana is not for sale, though football.london understands that Leicester's resolve would be seriously tested if an offer of £85m was made.

Maddison brings Fofana boost

Leicester's need to sell a player before setting out on their own transfer road has meant that the futures of Youri Tielemans and James Maddison both play increasingly important roles in Chelsea's own pursuit of Fofana.

With Tottenham and Arsenal interested in the duo respectively, there is competition to see which player is sold first as it could hinder moves for the remaining two.

The boost for Chelsea is that according to TalkSport's Alex Crook, Maddison is due to sign a new contract at the King Power Stadium. This could mean that the Foxes are put in a position whereby they need to sell Fofana, therefore helping Chelsea.
