Chelsea make Levi Colwill transfer decision as Bayern Munich target double defender swoop

Levi Colwill is settled and happy at Chelsea, and Blues chiefs do not want to sell the England defender.

Bayern Munich are thought to be among a nucleus of top European clubs retaining a long-term interest in Colwill, but the 21-year-old is expected to stay at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Colwill had beaten a minor toe issue in time to contest selection for Euro 2024, but Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate overlooked the Blues academy graduate.

The former Brighton loanee is now understood to be aiming to channel the natural disappointment of missing the summer tournament in Germany by hitting the ground running in pre-season at Chelsea.

Colwill is excited about working with new Blues head coach Enzo Maresca, who will officially start work at Cobham on July 1 after leaving Leicester.

Tosin Adarabioyo has boosted Chelsea's centre-back stocks after his free transfer move from Fulham, becoming the first signing of the Maresca era last week.

The 26-year-old has filled the slot vacated by Thiago Silva's summer return to boyhood club Fluminense in Brazil.

Bayern are in the market for central defensive strengthening this summer after the appointment of Vincent Kompany as their new boss, with the Munich club already advancing a move for Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah.

The Bavarians are still determined to bring in two centre-backs however, with Colwill remaining a firm target. Colwill is contracted until 2029 at Chelsea and the Blues regard him as integral to their long-term planning.

Trevoh Chalobah could leave Chelsea this summer, with the Blues entertaining offers for the 24-year-old. Fulham and Manchester United are among the interested parties
