Chelsea make Jamie Gittens decision as two more deals agreed before transfer deadline

Jamie Gittens is part of Chelsea’s plans this season, with a loan move ruled out.

Standard Sport understands Roma were keen on signing Gittens on a season-long loan deal, but the Blues have not made the winger available for a temporary transfer.

The 22-year-old joined from Borussia Dortmund last summer and endured an injury-hit debut campaign in west London, but looked strong in pre-season and made a substitute appearance against Luton Town in the Carabao Cup on Thursday.

Gittens does have fresh competition this season following the arrival of Morgan Rogers for £117million, though the decision to not loan him out proves he has a role to play under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Elsewhere, Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Emi Martinez from Aston Villa in a £7.5m deal, are closing in on the signing of Honest Ahanor from Atalanta and remain interested in Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez.

Getting players out of the door remains a priority for the Blues before before the summer window closes for business at 11pm BST on Tuesday night (September 1) as they look to trim down the first team squad.

Marc Guiu has been linked with a move to Napoli, while David Datro Fofana and Caleb Wiley have become the latest players to leave Chelsea.

Standard Sport understands that striker Fofana has now sealed a move to Swiss side Servette FC, and left-back Wiley has joined Preston.

Fofana’s is a permanent transfer worth an initial €2.5million (£2.1m) plus a further €1m (£856,000) in add-ons, while Wiley heads back to the Championship on a season-long loan.
