Arsenal fans were absolutely delighted when the Gunners managed to land the signature of Nicolas Pepe from under the noses of London rivals Chelsea back in 2019.
The Ivorian, then at Ligue 1 side Lille, was subject to interest from a number of huge clubs across the continent but ended up at the Emirates after Arsenal forked out a club record fee of £72million for his services. Chelsea were forced to search elsewhere for a new forward addition while the Gunners signed a player who was at the time one of the hottest properties in European football.
Chelsea were aiming to make Pepe their replacement for the departed Eden Hazard, who left for the bright lights of Real Madrid the very same summer.
