Chelsea: Liam Rosenior confirms Estevao latest ahead of Carabao Cup showdown with Arsenal

Estevao is on compassionate leave in Brazil and is a doubt to face Arsenal on Tuesday.

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior insists he “won’t put any pressure” on the 18-year-old to be back in time for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Emirates Stadium.

Estevao missed Saturday’s 3-2 win over West Ham having flown home to tend to a personal matter.

His absence came after he started both of Chelsea’s previous two matches against Crystal Palace and Napoli, scoring the opening goal of the 3-1 win over the Eagles.

Asked ahead of the Arsenal game whether Estevao would be involved, Rosenior said: “I don't know yet.

“He is a young kid who has come and been magnificent.

“He is going through a really difficult time for personal reasons and is on compassionate leave.”

Rosenior added: “I won't put any pressure on him. It has to be right for him and he has to feel in the right place to perform for this team.”

Estevao was one of Chelsea’s brightest players against Arsenal in the first leg, which the Blues lost 3-2 at Stamford Bridge on January 14 in Rosenior’s second match as head coach.

After the Arsenal game, Chelsea faces Wolves away in the Premier League on Saturday before a home game against Leeds at Stamford Bridge next Tuesday.
