Chelsea legend John Terry gifts his twins matching £40k presents for their 17th birthday

John Terry's twins have clearly grown out of getting matching Chelsea kits - but their latest birthday gift won't have left them disappointed.

Back in 2006, Terry's wife Toni gave birth to one boy and one girl, Georgie and Summer, with the pair this week celebrating their 17th birthdays. And the former England captain took to Instagram to mark the occasion, posting a series of photos, starting with two models of the number '17' - surrounded by blue and pink balloons respectively.

He captioned the post: "We hope you have an amazing day, Mum and I wish you all the happiness and success in the world. We are so Proud of you both. We love you soooooooooooooooo much."

And then in a series of further pictures, he unveiled their lavish gifts. As well as matching birthday cakes, the twins were both gifted a £41,000 brand new Mercedes to mark them reaching the legal driving age.

Both cars appeared to be the Mercedes A Class AMG Line Premium Plus model. And to distinguish which flashy motor belonged to which child, one vehicle had a blue bow on the rooftop, and the other pink.

Partner Toni also uploaded a series of snaps to mark the occasion, writing: "Happy 17th Birthday to my beautiful babies @georgie26terry and @sum26terry. You make me the happiest mum in the world! I’m so proud of you both in every way, you make me smile everyday I love you both so much"

The occasion may have provided Terry with some welcome relief amid the pressure of his current coaching job at Leicester City. The Foxes visit Newcastle United on Monday, but are in danger of already being relegated by the time they even kick off at St James' Park.

Leicester currently lie 19th, two points off safety. But wins for both Nottingham Forest and Everton on Saturday will mean nothing less than three points will suffice against the Toon Army if they are to take the fight down to the final day of the season on Sunday, May 28.
