Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is on the brink of returning to management after reportedly being offered the Everton job following the sacking of Rafael Benitez.
It would mark the former midfielder's first role back in football since he was sacked by Chelsea just over a year ago, with Thomas Tuchel then taking over.
While the move has undoubtedly worked out for the Blues, Lampard is still held in high regard by many supporters after introducing the likes of Mason Mount and Reece James into the first-team from the academy.
The 42-year-old impressed in his second interview at Goodison Park and a decision was made soon after by owner Farhad Moshiri, according to the report from The Telegraph.
He is expected to be in place by the start of next week, ready to take charge of Everton against Brentford in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The news means that Lampard has beaten a number of high-profile candidates to the role.
Derby County boss Wayne Rooney and Portuguese manager Vitor Pereira were both also approached about the role, with the latter controversially revealing in an interview with Sky Sports News that he was a contender.
Former manager Roberto Martinez was the club's number one choice for the job but had to withdraw from the running after the Belgian FA ruled out the possibility of a job share.
If Lampard is to accept the job, he walks into a side with rock-bottom confidence and on the cusp of a relegation battle.
Benitez led the Toffees to just one win in his final 14 games in charge, with a 2-1 defeat to Norwich City proving the final straw for Lampard's former Chelsea boss.
His first meeting with the Blues is set to come at the end of April in a game that could prove crucial for both sides, as Everton look to pull away from trouble and Chelsea aim to close the gap on Manchester City in the title race.
