Joringho is not interested in joining Barcelona on a free transfer at the end of the season and instead wants to sign a contract extension at Chelsea.
The Italian midfielder’s current deal is set to expire in June 2023, sparking speculation that he could follow Andreas Christensen’s path in joining Barca on a free transfer. Spanish newspaper Sport have reported that Barca and AC Milan are among the clubs keeping an eye on Jorginho.
Barcelona have long-standing financial problems and the opportunity to sign a player of Jorginho’s quality without paying a transfer fee is an attractive prospect. However, Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, says his client is not interested in moving to Catalonia because he has his sights set on securing a new contract in west London.
