Chelsea injury update: Reece James Returns To Training

Chelsea have received a massive boost as Enzo Maresca provided an update on Reece James following his hamstring injury.

Chelsea Injury News: Reece James Returns To Training

Reece James missed the start of the season with a hamstring injury, making his first appearance against Liverpool on October 20.

He only made four appearances though before he picked up another hamstring injury.

Addressing his injury, James wrote on Instagram: “I’m doing okay, been better and also been worse. Another challenge ahead accepted. Eventually I’ll come out on top. Against all odds.”

James has not appeared since November 10 against Arsenal. But ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Everton on Sunday, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca gave an update which confirmed the England international has returned to training from injury.

“Reece will finally start with us for part of the session. Slowly, he’ll be back” said Maresca.

“We’ll now build his condition and then he will be ready to play, doesn’t mean it will be this Sunday”.

Though it looks unlikely James will feature on Sunday it provides a huge boost for Chelsea and their title challenge.

Injury History

Chelsea will be hoping to have a fully fit Reece James once he returns to the pitch for the rest of the season after Enzo Maresca’s injury update.

As per TransferMarkt, Reece James’ injury list displays 19 different occasions whereby the Chelsea captain has been out of action.

The 24-year-old made just 11 appearances in all competitions last season and has played just four times this term.

Reece James is one of the unluckiest players in football when it comes to injuries. He has missed 133 games in all competitions over the last six seasons with injury.

Chelsea are just two points off leaders Liverpool – who have a game in hand – going into this weekend’s fixtures.

If results this weekend go their way, Chelsea could be top of the table on Christmas Day.
